About Us

The Women's Round Table will offer an array of social and educational services that assist women to become empowered, self-sufficient, resilient, and reacclimate successfully in the community after incarceration. Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for women through life coaching (mentoring), educational opportunities, job readiness training, building self-esteem, reestablishing family life, clothes closet and making referrals. The Women's Round Table executes its mission under the Womens Assistance Services and Educational Opportunities incorporated (WASE), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, under laws of the State of Virginia.  

We will inspire, support, and celebrate women coming together from all walks of life. It is designed to give women a platform to share concerns and let their voices be heard. Women will be motivated and encouraged to reach for higher levels to help make their dreams become realities. The Round Table will provide an opportunity for information sharing, personal development, and strategies for winning in the face of adversity.

WOMEN SHARPENING WOMEN

As women, we are challenged by many obstacles in life and confronted by internal and external issues that test our resolve. While we remain resilient, we need each other. Delivering on our motto “Women Sharpening Women” is at the core of our fundamental belief and mission. We welcome your participation; it will be an inviting and exciting experience. You will be inspired not to miss a single gathering. The Women’s Round Table promises to encourage, enlighten, equip, and esteem one another in a mutual spirit of love, appreciation and respect. Just as the splendor of a pearl, women embody beauty, value, rare essence and strength.

ACTIVITIES

Since inception, the Round Table has held and continues to hold numerous activities, to name a few: 

• fundraisers and luncheons for formerly incarcerated women 

• food delivery to needy families, shelters, and churches throughout the DMV 

• purchased prosthetics for breast cancer survivors 

• empowerment luncheon, “Girl Power” with former VA NAACP President as guest speaker 

• celebrated Women’s History Month at the Mansion on O Street, where Rosa Parks lived for approximately 10 years 

• virtual presentation on Financial Management Strategies 

• “Pretty in Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness” on Spirit of Washington 

• Crowning Women of Worth and celebrated formerly incarcerated women to let them know, their past does not define their future 

• celebrated Juneteenth 

• virtual presentation on Answers to your Social Security Questions  

• attended renowned stage play “Hamilton” at the Altria Theater in Richmond, VA 

• initiated an annual Scholarship Appeal
